Hey all. I just had a few quick questions about cyote hunting. There is a 50$ per head bounty on them in my county. So how do you hunt them hahaha. I mean literally, is it legal to hunt them at night with a spotlight, and how do you get them to come to you? Thanks for all the help, seeing as i know nothing about cyote hunting haha.

Round here we bait them with scraps from the butcher shop late in the afternoon then come night fall you go to work on them with a 12ga and a Q-beam.

is it legal to hunt them at night with a spotlight,You can best answer that question yourself by reading the F&G law regs you get with a hunting license most places.

There is a 50$ per head bounty on them in my county.

That is a good price, better than what you can get for a really nice winter pelt.

i have wanted to hunt these yotes around hear with my .204 for a long time but am not so great at calling them in....... arent yotes considered varmintes and open season on them except during mating? i think crowes are like that also, but does that require a license?

Different states have different rules on the hunting, and requirement of license, for non-game species.

Your best bet is to visit your fish and game site for your particular state to learn the legal way to hunt different species.

Here in VA you can hunt them 6 days a week all year long. Study up on them and you will do better then just getting info and lucky. There is a wealth of information out there on the web that will help you understand their habits. What part of VA are you from and or going to hunt and could you post information on the bounty in your county. You can use electronic calls, mouth calls and hunt by day or night. I have some yotes on my hunting land and plan of working on them but have not checked on any bounty.

We can use electronic calls, you might want to look into it to see if it is legal where you are.

DeepSouth, since your location says "Heart of Dixie" which would indicate that you are in Alabama(I'm assuming),I have to ask, when did electronic calls become legal? The Judge of Probate's office was out of F&G regs when I bought my license.

Electric game calls are illegal in Fl. for game animals. The key word here is "game" which yotes, bobcats are not.

Mouth blown calls work well also.I have used the e-callers in the past, and like them but tend to stick with the mouth calls for most of my hunting. The best advice I can give ya is 1:When it comes to calling yotes (and most animals for that matter)LESS is BETTER 2:If they even get a "wiff" of you, their GONE!!!!Coyotes have a far better nose, and are far smarter than any deer bear ect..IMO.A $50 bounty sure would be nice (your area must be ate-up with'em)between hunting/trapping I could really increase my "spending" money :D

I just checked Alabama's regulations on Coyotes. Gun and Bow,no closed season, daylight hours only,no bag limit. Season closed in areas of and during spring turkey season. Electronic calls are NOT permitted for coyote. Only crows may be hunted with aid of an electronic call.
