I have an A2 style upper with integrated carry handle. I would like to chop off the handle and put some type of flat top rail on it. Has any one done this? What will Fit?

Yes, people have done it, but it normally comes out looking like a poorly performed abortion. I highly suggest you buy a flat top upper receiver and switch your parts over to it.

I second the recommendation of purchasing an A3 receiver.

There are folks out there that can do the modifications. Usually they leave the A2 sight in place and put a weaver type rail forward. I believe that was more commonly done when A3 type recievers were not the norm. With the cost of a new upper reciever being approximately $100, there really isn't a reason to try to convert your existing upper. The cost of the modifications would easily equal the cost of a new upper reciever, at the same time leaving your old upper valued even less then original.

Man, get an A3 upper. Don't bugger up your A2.
