Which Taurus .22 would you buy??

I hear both good and bad things about both the PT-22 and the Model 94 / 941.

I'm really trying to keep costs down, so I'm willing to consider one of these Taurus handguns as long as I'm not gonna need to send off for repairs every other time I shoot it. I've seen a lot of horror stories, but at the same time... I've seen a lot of stories mentioning the value of these weapons. Some will recommend the trigger of the PT-22 over that of the 94... while others say the PT-22 jambs more than a Walther P22.

I'd love a DA Beretta .22, but that chart that's stickied in the autoloaders section doesn't include any .22s. How disappointing.

So for now... if you have shot BOTH Tauruses, which one did you like more, and why?

P.S. - I'm sorry for the random influx of .22 threads, but I'm picky. :p

Funny you'd mention that without explaining why or offering a better value for a .22 pocket-carry.

This guy seems to think that the 941 is an EXCELLENT gun, and he gives his reasoning why: http://www.gunblast.com/Taurus941.htm

I see no reason why not to try the 941. I'll still be able to fire .22lr out of it if I need to, but the .22 mags are almost as plentiful here... and probly just as cheap, so WTFreak? I've read of binding issues with the cylinder, but hopefully I'll luck out and get a trouble free Taurus revolver like some other people have gotten.

The PT-22 just looks neat to me, but I don't think I'll end up with good luck on that one.

I have owned both ;
PT-22 barrel latch broke at 30 rounds . back to the factory less than 2 weeks turn around. at around 300 rounds it started jamming once and fail to fire once every mag full , back to factory 3 week turn around. about 300 rounds after the return it started the same ***** back to the factory again 5 weeks turn around sold it when it returned (yes i told them it had been to the factory 3 times)after a search for a small 22 and not finding anything I liked a gun dealer who's shop was in the country handed me a used taurus 94 blued and a box of shells and told me to go out back and shoot it. I had shot 2 s&w airwieghts and coundn't hit the broud side of the barn from the inside with the door closed. the taurus was minute of pop can at 50 foot But I wanted stainless. I was promised that if the stainless wasn't acceptable it would be bought back at full price. that was six years ago. it is laying on my desk in a paddle holster in front of me as I type this, any time I go woods walking it goes with me

I own two 4" Model 94 revolvers, one blue, one stainless, a blued Model 941 in 4", and a PT22.

NONE has broken anything in the past twelve years of shooting. All are as accurate as their design allows for.

My S&W Model 17, on the other hand has had nothing but problems. It's inaccurate with all ammo, including Match from Eley, Lapua, Federal, and Fiocchi. No matter how clean, the casings suffer sticky extraction, and now, the cylinder latch doesn't allow the cylinder to be swung open.

The gun was cleaned and lubed prior to it's first outing, and has been cleaned and lubed after each subsequent trip. S&W, after 6 weeks, determined that it was "within acceptable accuracy standards". That's 6", from a rest, at 25 yards. No thank you.

If High Point made a .22, it would be a better buy than a S&W.

I own two 4" Model 94 revolvers, one blue, one stainless, a blued Model 941 in 4", and a PT22. ... All are as accurate as their design allows for. This is the kinda experience I'm interested in, as I'm nearly settled on the 2" or 4" Taurus 94 or 941. I just don't know which one of the four I'd be most happy with.

I've heard the .22 mag is a bit louder, but by how much? Surely the 4" would help with accuracy and noise reduction as well, but then the chances of me keeping it in my pocket are greatly reduced. I see no reason to get the 94 over the 941 if the 941 can shoot .22lr also. I guess it just comes down to 2" or 4" 941...

Any complaints with the accuracy of the snub-nosed 94 / 941??

The 941 is .22 mag only. No shooting .22 LR in it. .22 mag is MUCH more expensive than .22 LR. get the 94 if you want a plinker. I like .22 mag but it's like ten times more expensive than .22 LR bulk pack. I can shoot my 9mm cheaper than a .22 mag.

I've had this 941, 4" in 22mag for 7 or 8 years. I drilled the top strap and mounted a JPoint red dot on it. Double action trigger is stiff, but in single action it is sweet and very accurate. 22 mag out of any handgun is a little dirty and you have to clean it a little more often, but the gun has never failed me.

I will never buy another break o matic again. Mine spent more time at the shop than in my posession, I had it 3 weeks out of two and a half years. They finally sent me a note with the weapon in the same condition I sent it in with stating they no longer made parts for my weapon. SO much for the Waranty! Oh and dont trust the titanium ones either my cylinder cracked.
