Does anyone know of a web site that shows how to take-down an M1 carbine for routine cleaning?
Thanks

Just remove that front barrel band and everything starts falling apart, real easy. Once you have the stock out of the way, it's all real obvious.
Compress and remove the op-rod spring. Then, pull up as you retract the op-rod, et voila!. The bolt sorta falls out, almost by itself. Ya gotta hold your mouth right to reinstall it, though. But, it's easy.
A toothbrush, some patches and a little gun oil. They don't need to be kitchen-table spic and span.

I'm assuming that you didn't get a manual when you bought your carbine. My recommendation to you would be to check out Fulton Armory and pickup a copy of The M1 Carbine Owner's Guide or M1 Carbine Shop Manual. Both are excellent books and cover everything you could possibly want to know about the M1 Carbine series.

I found this one:

If the link doesn't work just cut & paste into your browser. My IAI Carbine also came with a basic manual. Hope that helps...

Just don't forget to diassemble and clean the piston. It can cause short stroking if fouling builds up.
