Keep them both. As far as performance goes they are both good, leaning toward the benelli. They make great Duck hunting guns cause they are reliable around water and mud.

Keep the Benelli, as long as you don't mind paying out the nose for anything aftermarket.

For me, the Mossbergs feel best. However the Nova Tactical pumps do feel pretty good.

the benelli seems to have feeeding probelms going into the chamber the shell will get stuck betwen the shell carier so u have to pull real hard on the forearm to get the shell out then the shell is usually damaged to ,a few times out of 25 shots usually. and i dont like the 4 shot capacity. but there are many things i like about the gun. and the mossberg has a 7+1 and capacity shoots flawlessly but i hate how the forearm rattles badly even though i only have 100 rounds threw it and the guns pretty hard to take apart. there are other things about both too.

I would suggest the Charles Daly SP Home Defense. It's comparable in design if not a copy.
Inexpensive, quality product.
You'd be hard pressed to meet or beat the quality for 2-3 times the price.

i actualy own a mossberg 590 so i am partial to the mossbergs but ive handled and shot a few benellis and i find both are good
unless we get into extreme high end guns almost all the big names offerings will be preference based more than anything its like the old mossberg vs remington debate it all boils down to how you feel about it
i personaly like diversity so a gun is a gun is a gun untill we stretch way beyond the original price bracket then its apples to oranges

The Benelli Nova easily holds five 2 3/4" shells in the standard mag tube because it is a 3 1/2" gun. In standard trim it is a six shooter.

I have the Benelli Super Nova Tactical with pistol grip, and it's really alot of gun for the money,
Pistol grip stock
Ghost ring sights
Polymer coated steel receiver that is virtually impervious to rust and corrosion
Capable of shooting just about any 12 gauge ammunition (2 3/4", 3", and 3.5")
Aftermarket accessories is limited with this gun, but there isn't really much that is needed IMO. You can get magazine tube extensions and side saddles, but it's pretty much got everything else right out of the box. It more or less is my dedicated rifled slug gun, but due the smooth bore barrel I still have the option of shooting buckshot and target loads.
I would have to vote to keep the Benelli since it's a lot of gun for the money!

I paid 400 for the 870 + 130 for the Spec Ops stock.
I paid 479 for the Super Nova as it is.

I have an early Nova Tactical with no mag extension. It definitely holds 5 Federal LE slugs or buckshot in the mag tube and functions fine that way.

dbr: realy so urs is 5+1? i just pulled out my beneli [about 3 months old] and with federal shells it holds 4 and the 5th one almost goes in with about a eighth inch left but even in the manual it says 4. but maybe they changed it since your early version. or maybe ur mag spring is more worn in.

It could be the length of the follower or the mag spring. I have a CS magspring which if memory serves has a few less coils than the stock one.
What I don't understand, is I think the difference in length between 3 1/2" shells and 2 3/4" shells is more than the length of one 2 3/4" shell. If true can your gun hold four 3 1/2" shells or only three? See what your book says.

it holds 4 3 inch 4 2 and 3 quaters or three 3 and a halfs. but if u notice the mag tube on the nova is shorter then a pardner pump or mossberg 500 field whitch are both 5 shot guns . and the bennelli tube is the same length as a remington which is also 4 shot. the benelli spring is a strong spring i think if they made it lighter they could get another round in there though.

OK there is the difference. My Nova tactical holds four 3 1/2" shells. Something must have changed after I got my early model.
