(New York-WABC, October 23, 2003) — There are new questions about airport security this afternoon, after a man allegedly smuggled a gun past security at Kennedy Airport.

Sixty eight-year-old Nicholas Slaina was arrested in Romania, after customs officials there say they found a gun and bullets wrapped in aluminum foil.

It was hidden in a typewriter found after he landed. Slaina, who is a U.S. citizen and was visting relatives in Romania, denies any wrongdoing.
