A Springwood Park resident was arrested Monday after threatening the life of a Hancock County deputy sheriff who was investigating a possible domestic dispute, Sheriff Steve Garber said yesterday.
The incident began, when Bay St. Louis Police had filed a domestic disturbance at their office, reporting that the incident took place at the last house on Avocado Street in Springwood Park - and the information was passed to the sheriff’s department.
Reserve Deputy Nathaniel Jewel, on Sunday night, went to the residence and entered the yard of an elderly man, identified himself as a deputy sheriff. The man cussed Jewel out and told him to leave the property, as he had no right to be there. As Deputy Jewel backed out of the yard the man picked up a 410 gauge sawed-off shotgun, pointed at him threatening him, and continued to cuss him as he left the property, Garber said.
On Monday, as investigators were securing a search warrant for the residence, they discovered there were two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants for the subject, one from Bay Municipal Court and the other from Hancock Justice Court. Also it was learned there was a 1996 charges against the suspect for a 1996 shooting into dwellings, investigators say.
The sheriff’s department made a decision to use the Special Operations Division’s officers to execute the search warrant, in addition to the two outstanding arrest warrants, since the man had the potential for violence, Garber said.
“Dillon Taylor, 86, Avocado Street, was arrested and additionally charged with simple assault on a police officer, in addition to the outstanding charges,” Garber reported.
The sawed-off shotgun was confiscated.
It was later learned the domestic incident did not occur at the man’s residence, Garber said.

Hats off to Deputy Jewel for not icing the old coot.

Find it odd that there were no NFA charges filed (yet), unless "sawed off" is now media doublespeak for a short, but legal, barrel.

Hey, TheeBadOne, with all respect, how about a) filling in your location and/or b) telling us where this happened.

How would any of us from out of town even guess that Springwood Park, Bay St. Louis and Hancock County are in Mississippi?

Thanks!

I see how Taylor made to age 86...
Tremendous luck.
Survived the incident in his back yard,
AND the subsequent swat raid.

Some pretty cool cops in both instances.
