Question for those in the military that use or have had experience with the M11(military version of Sig P228). Are the M11s marked with US government property markings and are the components marked with parts numbers as are the M9 pistols? Or are the M11s just marked with commercial Sig markings?

Thanks!

The one M11 I saw was overstamped "M11" and "U.S. Gov't Prop.", but the grip panels were standard P228 "pebblegrain" with the P228 on the left-side panel.

I've seen one M11 and it read "M11" on the right side of the frame. That's it. Plus it had no German proofs on it whatsoever.

My sis-in-law is a gunner's mate in the NAVY. She is given the choice between the M11 and the M9. She says everyone on her ship calls the 228 the "Beretta-SIG." Seems they think the SIG is made my Beretta, or because it's smaller, they think the SIG stands for 'smaller.'
