Hey everyone-
New to the forum and semi-auto shotguns. I just picked up a 930 SPX and wanted to ask about the bolt/shell release button on the side. On my weapon if there is a round cambered and I hit the button another round will come out and I assume after I fire the round in the camber it will not camber correctly. I have tested this without actually firing it and it gets hung up. Is this normal? I am just worried about accidentally hitting this button with seconds count.

Also, when i hit that button more than one round comes out. In other words I get one whole round and another about a tenth of the way out, just enough to mess things up.

Lastly, when I am trying to unload the weapon I end up getting my thumb smashed and again I get one round plus a little of the next to come out.

Is that happening to everyone and I just have to deal with it or is there something wrong with the weapon.

I, too, had to learn the hard way that the button is Not to be used when the 930 is loaded; it is almost guaranteed to cause two shells to be released. Use it only to release the bolt, or for unloading the tube and you'll be much happier. When unloading I don't use my thumb, I stick my finger right up against the shell and control it as soon as it's released. Letting the shell slam against my thumb gave it too much momentum = hurts.

A few notes - - -
Make sure the hammer is cocked when disassembling the shotgun. If it's uncocked you risk losing the hammer spring/loaded shell indicator. (Don't ask how I found that out.)

When disassembling, there is a hollow tube for the rear pin. It comes out easily and can be hard to find. (Don't ask...etc.)

If you like the way Federal LE1320-00 Buck patterns, be aware that it's about that >.< much longer than most shotgun shells. Add that up >.......< and that's enough to keep the 7th shell from loading in the magazine. Changing out to a Mossberg 500 spring is all it takes to restore 7-round capability. (Not my discovery, someone on AK47.net had same problem and came up with the fix.)

You can ghost-load a shell on the shell lifter and have 7+1+1 capacity. It's not something to do daily, but it's nice to know it's possible.

If you Do mistakenly hit the shell release button and release two shells, thus tying up your gun; the charging handle easily pulled out and is handy for pushing the second shell back into the magazine. I had my 'smith cut the lifter's 'Vee' slightly deeper so it would be easier to work with all shell lengths.

The barrel to magazine tube relationship is the same as on a Remington 870. This means that an 870 sling plate will work as a 930's front sling attachment point without any problems. Should work for magazine clamps as well.
