I have about 500 hard cast 110 grain .356 9mm bullets that I hate to just melt down. I'm wondering if they can be used up in some plinking loads for my .38 special. I'm not epecting stellar accuracy from them since they would be undersized, but would they do any harm to me or the S&W model 14 revolver in which I plan on using them.

Well...theoretically, it should work. There's a Ruger Blackhawk with a conversion cyliner that allows the shooter to swap from .357 or .38 to 9mm. It's - what - two thousandths smaller? From the BH, story is it's not super precise, but it's "good enough."

I would think you should be fine as long as you're not expecting more out of plinkers.

My first .38 Special reloads were made with lead 125 grain 9mm Luger bullets.
They were a truncated cone design.
I shot them in an "Old Model" Ruger Blackhawk and the gun really shot them well.
Why not make a few loads with your 9mm bullets and try them?

Watch your speed and look for signs of leading. A lot of cast for the .38spl is sized .358 which helps to seal the barrel. Otherwise you should be fine.
