taking apart a Colt.
I picked up this Mk III a few months back mainly because after my first one, a 6", I was a real fan, and because this one had a mount on it. It had an old "experimental optical sight" (by TC) like pictured on pg 187 of the Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson 3rd edition. It still works, but has a small, poor sight picture. I stuck a Simmons on it, but need a nice small red dot for it.
The gun had some light pitting at the front of the barrel and under the trigger guard that had been cold blued which got $100 off the price for me. Other than that, it is almost like new. I love that clickity clack sound when opening and closing the cylinder.
It needed lubing etc. I could tell it was bone dry inside. Since I am a curious sort, just spraying lube in there was out of the question. I did take a good pic for a reference so I would not have to rely on memory alone when putting it back together. ;)
Old hat for ya'll I'm sure.
I actually found this Mk III a little bit easier to do than S&W's. I don't know about other Colts of course. :)
