Is the Glock 34 LESS reliable than the others?

I'm wondering if the Glock 34 9mm is less reliable than the other 9s in the Glock lineup. Because of the longer, heavier slide, it travels slower, I think.
I thought I remembered reading somewhere they were more sensitive to limp wristing than the other Glocks?
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks,
Steve

My 34 was less prone to limp wristing than my 17, why? who knows. The 34 slide while longer has a cut out in the top that puts the weight of the slide the same as the 17

The slide on the G34 is definitely not heavier, the cut on the top of the slide is there to match the weight of the G17 slide. Also, the inside of the slide had been shaved of some metal (in none critical areas) to achieve the same affect. The slide velocity is the same as the G17, as far as I know.
The only disadvantage I can see with the G34 is that, the open top slide design can allow debris like, mud, sand, ice...etc to get in the space between the barell and slide and interfere with the guns cycling. Other than that, it should be just as reliable as the other Glocks in that caliber.

My G34 has been completely reliable. Some people prefer its longer magazine release and others prefer to switch it out with the shorter G17 release button. The longer barrel does let the 9 mm build up a little more velocity and energy. I really like the G34 with night sights.

Just got my G34 and so far so good..shoot mostly the WIN valuepak stuff through it..
It just got back from the gunsmith..with a 1.5 pound trigger..the reset is a little shorter too so I am looking forward to trying this out...also got Dawson's narrow (.100) Glock adj. sight put on..they look great too..

May I ask a question?
How does limp wrist a 9mm? :uhoh: Hahaha!
I love the feel of the 34 & 35 and like how they are set up. My only wish is they had the 10mm like that. Bren

What about the model 35/.40? Are there .357 barrels available for it? That would probably give some pretty good velocity to that round.
Thanks again,
Steve

Never had a problem with my G34. However, it is my only Glock so am not entirely sure how it performs against a G17 or G19 first hand.
My sister limpwristed my SIG P226 which induced failures. During the time I took it to see what was causing the failures (wasn't sure at the time of the source) and it functioned fine for me. She hasn't shot pistols much.

Bren,
I agree, 10mm in a G34/35 platform is an awesome concept! :)

I have put over 1200 rounds of Win value pack through my G34 without a single problem. With the slide weight reduced to match that of the G17, there should not be a concern. The extended slide has more benefit in sight picture and balance, unless of course this will also serve as a carry gun. Then the G17 or G19 would be a better fit.
