Best survival/homesteading websites?

Me and my wife have decided to start looking at being more self sufficient. I have found a couple of websites for survival, but none of them actually teach you anything. I am a "country boy", so I can feed myself, and keep some sort of shelter over my head. What I want is to learn everything I can about wild edibles, blacksmithing, and just general stuff about survival without going to "town" (LOL). How do you make gunpowder or make bullets? I want to become Grizzly Adams if needed. Where would you recommend I start?

Start by looking at the Foxfire book series, if you haven't already. If you're wanting to be self sufficient, books will probably be a better bet than internet anyway. There are quite a few websites that offer marginal advice at best, and are downright kookie and could get you hurt at worst. Start with the books that have been around a while.

As for gun related; I'm pretty sure at least one of the Foxfire books talks about firearms and making powder (though I can't remember) and I know they talk about hunting, dressing, skinning, and cooking your kill.

Holy Cow! I didn't know these even existed. Their website sells the whole 12 book set for $200. Thank you for the suggestion. These will be a good start.

My favorites:

Survival discussion over at AR15.com in the Outdoors forum http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=10&f=17

The survival podcast. Lots of good podcasts to download and listen to when you have time. General prepardness, gardening, bug out bags, etc... http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/

The forums over Zombie Hunters. Don't let the name fool you as they have some great info. Start in the FAQ threads. http://zombiehunters.org/forum/
