I can't seem to shut off the email messages.
I don't want to receive email when a thread I've posted to or subscribed to gets another post.
I want to receive any email that the staff sends me, and I believe I have my preferences set to do that, but I keep getting email about threads I'm watching, and I don't know how to make it stop. :banghead:
Can you help me?
Thank you.

In the top right click "user cp" then click on "edit options" then set "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" to No.

Also under usercp, click on "view all subscribed threads" near the bottom right, then delete all of them.

Did that. It's been that way. Checked it every time I got an email, and it was still that way. I just checked it again, carefully, and it's still that way.
Still get email with it set that way. If I post to a thread, I get email.
Now I'm getting email about this thread. :banghead:

So, I can't be subscribed to threads without getting email?
I can't post without getting email?

I'll bet I found it.
The preference simply sets a check box ON EACH POST!
Therefore, I'll bet that you can be getting email on some threads and not on others.
I went back through each of my posts, and sure enough, some of the boxes were checked, and some of them weren't.
Now I'll see if I still get email on subscribed threads... :uhoh:

Being "subscribed" only means you get email. It has nothing to do with whether you can post or have posted to the thread.

Use 'Email Notification' by default? checked?
If so, make sure it's set to NO.

Ok...How about the OPPOSITE problem?
All of a sudden I can't get an email notification on threads that I'm subscribed to.
I had no problems before, and I haven't changed anything. I went through my user cp and everything is still st correctly.
HELP!

Do any threads show up when you go to
http://www.thehighroad.org/member2.php?s=&action=viewsubscription&daysprune=1000
?
If they're not on that list, you won't get notifications unless you post to a thread or unless you've subscribed to an entire forum (main usercp page).
If your browser isn't accepting cookies, you may only get one notification per thread, ever, or you may get none. I'm not sure. But you won't get more than one, because THR won't know you've ever visited the thread.

Spot77,
Just a hunch, but you should maybe try deleting all your cookies and clearing your cache. Might have something conflicting somewhere.

Probably a good idea....
This computer is almost 6 years old, so six years worth of internet surfing is bound to pile up some junk in there.....
