I heard that SW has made a 10mm revolver in the past, does anyone have any information on history, model number etc.?

My buddy scored a 4" 610 for $400 at a recent gun show. I almost punched him in the face out of sheer jealousy. I always have a eye out, but I never seem to run into the deals that this guy gets. At least I get to shoot it and he gets to clean it!

Fly-n, What did you think about it after shooting it?

I have owned a 5" from when they first came out around 1990 ---- I've fired over 20,000 rounds thru it in IPSC, IDPA, Bowling Pin , and Steel Challenge competitions ---- it is still VERY ACCURATE and still "tight"

Can and should you shoot .40cal out of a 10mm s&w 610 ?

Yes , you can ----- it will leave a "ring" in the chambers like useing 38Spl. in a .357 -- nothing a brass brush and a good cleaning won't fix.

For some competition shoots , I use .40 S&W as the shorter length cuts a 1/1000 off your reload time !!!! LOL

I haven't touched of any wild 10mms, but shooting .40s is very nice. Very cool gun. I'm a sucker for L-Frames, but the 610's N-Frame feels very substantial and allows for a great grip.

Gunfighter have you ever shot the 4" version? or I guess it's listed as 3 7/8.

Hiya Slammy,
Yes , I have shot the 4" and the 6 1/2" --- at the time , the ONLY 610 made was the 5" ----- which is my favorite brl length for a revolver.
If I had to pick between the 4" or 6 1/2" --- I would pick the 4". The S&W 610 is a big N frame gun and it doesn't recoil much really.

And at 4" you could still shoot it in IDPA. (Now there's a dumb rule if I ever saw one!)
