I'm seriously thinking about getting a Steyr M40 as my carry piece. I currently carry an S&W 6906 in my SOB, and sometimes in an Uncle Mike's belly band.

My daily attire is jeans with untucked large T-shirt or untucked button down shirt.

The M40 is about .4 inch longer than the 6906, but quite a bit narrower (1.18" wide), which is appealing.

Anyone here carry this gun concealed? If so, can you share your experience?

Thanks!

Actually I have a M40 (http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/review/steyr40.htm) hidden on my side right now. I have shot the 6906 and it actually has more recoil than my M40.

The M40 is a very nice gun you would not be disappointed with it.

I carry my two different ways

IWB with a Highnoon Hidden Alley holster (http://highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Hidden_Ally/hidden_ally.html). It is a tuckable and it works very well, even my wife doesn't notice it untill I untuck my shirt and take the gun off after we have been out.

The other way is with an OWB JIT slide holster from Don Hume. It was actually made for a Sig p239, but I stretched out to make it fit and it works very well.

All the rounded corners on the M40 make it a very comfortable carry. Really even more so than my p239.

I used to carry my M40 in an Action Direct Defender belly band ... it was extremely comfortable and concealable. All the rounded edges and the thin grip (especialy for a doublestack) make it disapear pretty well. My only complaint is grip length (which is why when I get the money together there will be an S40 in my pants).

Once it gets heavy coat weather I'll be carrying it again ... I may pick up an IWB holster for it (probably a Hidden Alley like Flashpoint's), but if not I have a real nice OWB holster made by Mark Waldon (he's a TFLer and owner of Waldon Holsters ... although I think he's taking a break from holster making).
