New to THR and just got done ordering a Mossberg 464. Straight stock, none of that pistol grip stuff for me. I've got an old Win. 94 that's been handed down through the family, so I'm familiar with it's handling... but never had a chance to fire a 464.

Anyone have experience with these Mossbergs? I'm excited like a kid on Christmas Eve and can hardly wait the 10 days (bs California) 'till I can run some lead through her.

Any input is welcome, even if it's "OMGWTFBBQ! U JUST WASTED UR MONEY. N00B." I was looking for something to take out in the woods, fire frequently, and not care if it get's chewed up a bit. A toy gun, of sorts. For $350 when all is said and done, this seemed like a pretty sweet deal.

I would have been shopping for a used Winchester or better yet a straight stocked Marlin. Don't like the Mossberg at all.

I think it's a nice little rifle. For the price you get Winchester styling with some of the Marlin strength and modern features. While it isn't going to be as nice as a pre 64 Win or a Marlin 336c or xlr, it doesn't cost what they cost either. I'm not sure if it is as good or better than a Marlin 336w which costs a little more, but if you want a new inexpensive straight grip 30-30, its pretty much your onlý option. Let us know how it shoots when you get it.
