is a detacheable carry handle legal for high power competition, or do all rifles have to have a2 uppers?

thank you.

and that begs the question... why aren't collapsible stocks legal? they are in common use and provide no advantage over an a2/a1 stock...

A collapasible stock would be terrible. There would be no way to get a proper cheek weld with it because it would be so low. Not to mention short.

The detachable carry handle got pushed through by the Army. They do not reuse uppers when they rebarrel and they rebarrel often. So not to have to constantly be building and lapping in sights they simply reuse the carry handle.
