SlimJim, 44 magnum with a large barrel and break like that ? It should be set up for 308. Does it shoot like a 22 ?

Here's a couple large frames.
1st is a Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag.

http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq172/toykwazy/blackhawk.jpg

Then there's a "X" frame 500 S&W and an even larger 50-70 Century wheel gun.

It cuts out about half the recoil, i could have had another row of ports added but that was thought of afterwards.

My FA 83 in .454 Casull next to my FA 97 in .357 Magnum. The FA 83 is quite a bit larger as the FA 97 is the same size as a Colt Model P.

My only large frame revolver at the moment, a Ruger Redhawk 5.5" 44 Magnum. I probably wouldn't have purchased it, except it was $300 (including an MTM pistol case, 50 rounds of 44 Mag JHP and a shoulder holster). Couldn't pass on that.

S&W M1917. It's got Pachmayr grips now* and is quite a shooter. I need to take some new pictures.

* Don't worry; the old grips and lanyard stuff are safely stored!

My 4" M-29.

This was a standard blue 6" "Dirty Harry Special" when I bought it. I sent it to S&W for a 4" barrel with pinned front sight, a smooth trigger and an action job. Then I installed a Bang spring set, slicked the action a tad more, installed a FO front sight and target rear blade and sent it to AP&W for hard chrome.

KurtC, how about some details? I have a Redhawk in .45 Colt but it doesn't look anything like yours. What a beauty!! It looks very custom and what a great finish on it ... glass bead blast perhaps?

This is what happens when Hamilton Bowen does his magic. It started as a standard .45 colt 4" model. He fitted a .454 Casull unfluted cylinder, installed the Weigand interchangeable front sight along with his own Rough Country rear, tuned the action, round butted the grip frame and gave the whole thing a satin finish. :)

KurtC, thanks for the details ... you've certainly shown me what's possible for my Redhawk (also a 4"). So now you have a 4" Redhawk Alaskan ... AWESOME!!
