Anyone wear those belts with zippered compartments for putting in stuff like cashdorrars?

Skunk, are you referring to a belt like the one Charles Grodin handed to *ahem* Robert De Niro at the end of the movie, Midnight Run? :o

Skunk, I remember my grandfather showing me, many years ago, a money belt he wore when he used to work at night in the "dangerous part of town".
He used to put an extra $10 or so in the belt for "emergency" cash, as well as a few dimes for pay phone use.
Here is a link to some interesting websites which have a large selection of money belts and other "security" items (note: I have never done business with them, but I am thinking of buying a belt myself in the near future for travel):

IIWY I'd just put a copy of the permit in the belt.
I'd hate to see you getting jacked up by the road side cause you couldent produce your permit without doing front seat pilates.

Skunk, how much crap do you carry in your wallet? Maybe you need a bigger one to spread out the load, so it doesn't feel like you're sitting on a brick.
My wallet is big enough to hold my passport!

For day to day use, I use a money clip/card holder Goes in the front pants pocket or just about anywhere. I'll never go back to a wallet...

I have carried upwards of $1200 in a leather money belt of the type seen here (half-way down the page):
http://www.beltoutlet.com/monbeltravit.html
I take it all over Africa regularly and have never had anyone try to get my money. It really just looks like a normal belt. I recommend avoiding the split-leather belt, because the extra heft of the full leather helps hide the folded up bills, plus you don't want that thing splitting.
Getting the money out is not that fast, but after a bit of practice, you can do it without taking the belt off.

The gentleman who makes these is very helpful, the belt exceded my expectations, and it's thick enough and wide enough that it supported my Ruger P89 (not a light pistol by any means) IWB very comfortably.
I don't carry my spending money in my belt, just enough for a cab ride home or a greyhound ticket out of town at 3am.
