Has anyone worked with one of these before you don't need a FFL to buy, once you have machined it how do you legalize it ? It doesn't have serial numbers I think.
Any input on legality & gun-smithing/machining would be appreciated.

Looks kinda fishy to me. I was under the impression you can't "manufacture a firearm" under certain BATF/NFA rules unless you were a registered "manufacture".

That's what I thought.

(A7) Does the GCA prohibit anyone from making a handgun, shotgun or rifle?

With certain exceptions a firearm may be made by a nonlicensee provided it is not for sale and the maker is not prohibited from possessing firearms.
However, a person is prohibited from making a semiautomatic assault weapon or assembling a nonsporting semiautomatic rifle or nonsporting shotgun from imported parts. In addition, the making of an NFA firearm requires a tax payment and approval by ATF. An application to make a machinegun will not be approved unless documentation is submitted showing that the firearm is being made for a federal or state agency. [18 U. S. C. 922( o), (r), (v), and 923, 27 CFR 178.39, 178.40, 178.41 and 179.105]

You can make a FAL, AR-15 , ak-47 etc and its perfectly legal so i can't imagine what would be illegal about building a garand.

However, i would suspect that the machining for a garand or m14 would be significant and not for the average do it youselfer with a small do everything mill in his garage. Then there is the heat treatment that you would need to do after machining.

Myunderstanding is that you can make as many fully functional semiauto recievers as you want as long as they are for personal use and they don't have to be serialized. Now if you were to go and sell one to someone i believe its a whole different deal.
