I have an old mosin carbine that is sitting in the back of my shop. The reciever and the outside of the barrel is rusted but the bolt is partialy shiny and the action is smooth. I have kept it oiled and i would like to start shooting it. I just want to know who makes good barrels for it and what else should i do before i fire it.

I'd just clean and shoot. No point in rebarreling unless you have the tools and skill.

No point in even trying to rebarrel it. Just make sue the bore is alright, remove the rust on the outside if you want to, and shoot.

Have a friend that got a MN with a barrel that turned out to be almost completely shot out. Great receiver.

Bought a barrel on GB cheap. They got the barrel off by cutting the receiver.

Neither his barrel or the new one would come out from the receiver, at all, no matter what he or anyone else did. It will take some serious machine power to get those things apart.

Things to do before firing-Put in ear plugs. And muffs. :D

Even if you could get the bbl free...it isn't worth the time, money, and likely smith required to perform the work. If the bore is bad sell it (informing the buyer) and buy another at very little loss (of course check the bore before buying). :)

Have the barrel checked for safety, soak that thing in Eezox to stop the rust, and shoot it till it falls apart.
