Found this site for the Wildey gun. With a 5" barrel it's a whopping 4 lbs which equates to 1,814g. My G17 is 620g. Who would want to carry one of these beasts?

Only in the movies. Kinda like the Desert Eagle......if you believe the movies, every badguy conceals one.....sometimes two.

I think someone took the term "hand cannon" a little too literally...

Do they make an inside-waistband holster for a 12 gauge shotgun? I'd just go with that, and add a pound.

LoL!
There's a utube vid of a Thompson Encore with a .600 NE barrel being lit off. Results pretty typical in the vid.

However, in the 1800+ comments, far too many casually talk about a .50ae in a DE as if the physics were in any way the same. Make a person wonder how many of those only "carry" in a video game . . .

You wont be laughing so heartily at the Wildeys and Desert Eagles when the space gorillas invade...

Guides in big bear country, maybe?

It's lighter and smaller than a Marlin Guide Gun. It's likely to be easier to shoot than a .460 S&W revolver. I found a Desert Eagle .44 Magnum to be a pleasure to shoot. Very little perceived recoil.

These aren't intended as urban defense pistols.:)

That line made my day.

As for the Wildley, it's a case of "why not?" Not every firearms choice has to boil down to practicality, otherwise the market would be all Glocks.

It's shiny, silvery, mirror polished metal with pretty wood grips that fires a big, noisy cartridge. For extra nerd value, it's the same gun carried by Charles Bronson in Death Wish 3, and it also had a run of B-movie fame as Dollman's cannon too.

If you can't enjoy Tim Thomerson as Dollman, I really feel sorry for you.

Isn't the Wildey primarily for hunting?

Primarily.

But honestly, it's more akin to having a custom Harley to ride around in when buying a used Honda Accord gets you places without so many bugs in your teeth.

It was The Party Crasher's weapon of choice in The Hard Way (starring Michael J Fox).

Charles Bronson kills everything in his path, and somehow still has time to inspect and certify all the gas pumps here in Florida....

I carry a 52 ounce big bore revolver when hunting.
