Could anyone advise me the approximate year of manufacture of a Smith and Wesson model 60 5 shot revolver chambered in .38 spl with serial number R267xxx?

According to the 3rd edition of Catalog Of Smith & Wesson by Supica
and Nahas; it looks like your weapon was manufactuered between
1979-1980, as the serail number range for those years ran from
220001-280000~! ;)

Can anyone advise on the practicality or wisdom of using a +P round in a S&W J-frame revolver manufactured in 1979-80?
