So I really enjoy the Lee-Enfield Design. Unfortunately most models on display at gun shows have a significant amt of abuse. Anyone make good reproductions of these fine rifles? Thank you very much

AIA(australia international arms i think) makes a pretty cool Enfield. Unfortunately it is no longer being imported to the US. There are some floating around, but they command a premium. You can do a search here and find several threads about them.

Oh yeah, they also come in several modern calibers- .308, 7.62x39 and .223.

Awhile back Gibbs marketed an Enfield in 45-70 government caliber.

"...Gibbs marketed an Enfield..." Heavily bubba'd No. 4 receiver's. Not new manufacture. There are no newly manufactured Lee-Enfields other than the high priced($799Cdn for a .308 No. 4) AIA copies. Aside from there being no U.S. importer/distributor, they're not allowed Stateside due to some parts(rumoured to just be the stocks. AIA is decidely silent about where the parts come from.) being made in Viet Nam.
Keep looking for a real No. 4 Mk I*. Rifles in decent condition are out there. Won't be exactly cheap though. Think $300 and up.

I've seen decent looking Enfields around. Just keep looking! That's part of the fun of our hobby.

A local gunshop has a original looking Enfield which looks absolutely brand new. IIRC the owner is asking $450.00. And I mean it really looks brand new. I can find out more about the rifle if anyone is looking for a pristine example. As for "Bubba'd Enfields"...well, I just happen to own some. The bottom is a Gibbs Summit 45-70 "Bubba" which I like a lot. :)

My No4Mk1* looks like garbage on the outside, but it was total factory repair in Faz after the war, and the bore was pristine. It will shoot like the dickens all day long, don't let the appearance turn you off. Only other place you can find new manufacture is Khyber Pass, and those aren't to be trusted. :)

I would love to have one of those Gibbs 45-70 jobs. That would be a sweet rifle.

I really want one of those Australian Arms guns in 7.62x39!

On the "dealer/distributors" page it says under USA "to be announced shortly". Maybe they will be coming back stateside soon?

No mention of price though.

I picked up a really nice 1941 Lithgow No1 MkIII just before the 4th from a local shop. It was arsenal rebarreled in 1951 and then placed in storage. Bore is mint. the exterior finish is typical surplus rifle with a little light surface rusting and pitting but the barrel is brand new. The wood is above average for a surplus rifle. I paid $295 for the rifle. Might be a tad much for a surplus rifle but man can it shoot. Keep looking, they can be had.

Might give them a call. They ship anywhere and have a great selection of firearms. Or they might be able to find one for you. Ask for Justin if he is there.
