vit July 29, 2009, 07:32 PM All this hype of piston AR's made me post this. :D Here is a rifle that was way ahead of it's time. The South Korean K2, mine is a Kimber imported AR100.
Yes, it even has a 1:7 twist barrel. Unfortunately, the post ban DR200 came with 1:12.
She is a pleasure to shoot, no "sproing" either.

vit July 29, 2009, 10:05 PM so , where can i get one ,and how much?
Secondary market. The prebans haven't been available since 89. Saw a couple sell on GunBroker around $1,300-1,400.
briansmithwins July 29, 2009, 10:58 PM My only complaint about the design: You need a 4" long thumb to work the safety. BSW
jackdanson July 29, 2009, 11:13 PM I need one of these to go along with my Hyundai. :D

There is a fix for that, I may get one myself yet.

Nolo July 29, 2009, 11:28 PM Do you have those pictures any larger?
vit July 29, 2009, 11:31 PM What picture are you looking for?
Kind of Blued July 29, 2009, 11:37 PM So the "semi" setting is at 3:00, but where does the safety point for the "safe" setting?
Dr.Rob July 29, 2009, 11:43 PM Those are neat rifles but as I recall kind of heavy compared to an AR... those insides sure are shiny!
How's it shoot?
Note also: everyone of those bad hombre ROK troops has his finger on the trigger.
Trebor July 29, 2009, 11:57 PM I also have a AR-100 marked Daewoo K2. Several different importers imported these and the designation changed every time the importers changed. The K2 design is known as the K2, the AR-100, and (IIRC) the Max-2.
Mine is a great shooter. I added a rail and an Eotech, although I'm probably going to dump the Eotech for an Aimpoint later.
JohnnyOrygun July 30, 2009, 12:46 AM A friend who was in the army and served in Korea, told me those Korean soldiers are hardcore! Looks a neat rifle in preban mode.
Thanks for sharing
JohnnyOrygun
slzy July 30, 2009, 12:55 AM hardcore indeed. google rok in vietnam for their exploits.
Trebor July 30, 2009, 08:52 AM I found a couple pics of mine that I had on Photobucket.
I'm going to take off the Eotech. It won't co-witness with the irons and it kind of throws off the balance of the rifle. I also don't care for the battery life. I'll either replace it with an Aimpoint or just stick with the iron sights.
Great rifle though. It's accurate and reliable and mine at least has a fantastic trigger.

HardShell July 30, 2009, 06:42 PM I have a T-hole version and like it just fine -- good shooter.
FWIW, the old Bushmaster "Assault Rifle" pre-dates the Daewoos, has a similar action, and also used standard AR mags... ;)
vit July 30, 2009, 08:58 PM So the "semi" setting is at 3:00, but where does the safety point for the "safe" setting?
At 9:00. The "knob" is all the way back for "safe", rotate counter clockwise all the way worward for "fire".
Frankl03 July 30, 2009, 09:07 PM Very nice! I have to get one of those!
Here's one on Gun Broker NIB Starting at $950 NR.
Imported by Kimber

I have seen it, the seller started out way too high and been dropping the strating price for a while now. 950 bucks is still too much for a post ban.
HorseSoldier July 30, 2009, 09:35 PM ...and some ROK action pics;
Do they glue those guys' fingers onto their triggers when they in process for basic training or something?
dispatch55126 July 30, 2009, 10:49 PM I'll trade my AR and my SKS w/ an ammo tin for one...
Click Click Boom July 30, 2009, 11:41 PM I look at the Daewoo as modern version of the AK. The actions are very similar. Dae did make a ar like gun as well.
Trebor July 31, 2009, 07:23 AM I look at the Daewoo as modern version of the AK. The actions are very similar.
The design is a cross between an AK operating system with AR ergonomics on the bottom end. I call mine my "AR-47"
Shung July 31, 2009, 08:29 AM HEAT, Al Pacino ? Am I wrong ?

FNC. Same idea, really.
RP88 July 31, 2009, 07:00 PM are post-bans still findable? I've honestly never seen one in person. What would be the average going price? Anyone in particular carry them regularly?
HorseSoldier July 31, 2009, 10:08 PM I used to see them occasionally at gun shows (or maybe it was the same one changing hands from dealer to dealer -- never remember more than one per show . . .). Prices were AR-ish.
HardShell July 31, 2009, 11:03 PM are post-bans still findable? I've honestly never seen one in person. What would be the average going price? Anyone in particular carry them regularly?
New, no -- haven't been imported in years.
Used, yep -- just traded for mine last year.
They were asking $800 IIRC, but I traded even for it with something I had <$600 in and felt pretty good about it.
rangerruck August 1, 2009, 12:11 AM yep, I allways considered these, the best of the ar clones. all chromy inside as well, and you never , ever heard these having any failure rate, or ftf's or fte's.
You see a dude here and there at the thouston gunshows having them for sale.
you can get them for 700 to 1000, because most peeps don't know anything about them, and the seller just wants it gone.
Just look at their idea, for the piston rod, and how it attaches directly to the bolt carrier body, totally reliable.
