This one goes out to all you BK&T fans out there.....

Becker Knife and Tool recently introduced the "Desert Series" versions of their BK7,9 and 10 knives. I notice that the handle, sheath and blade coating color are different while the desert knives cost slightly more than their conventional cousins.

Anyone here own both the desert series knives along with their black coated and OD green sheathed brothers? Any difference in the durability of the desert coating?

Lastly, what is your favourite BK&T model and why?

I just got my BK7 in Desert Camo a couple weeks ago. The intended use is for clearing shooting lanes and for taking care of the stuff my 3" hunting knige can't handle when dressing out a whitetail. So far I've done nothing more than some simple "testing". It can take out a 3" sumac with little effort. :D .
The desert camo onlt cost me $5 more than the usual black finish. I went with the desert series because I like my knives to look as different as their intended uses. I have a D2/green micarta hunting knife and I had already picked out my EBK( evil black knife - Swamp Rat Howling Rat) I needed something with a different look for a 7"+ utility and the BK7 fit the bill perfect.
The desert coating is as durable as any coating I've had experience with so far. It does mar and scuff but a light cleaning with a scotch pad cleans it up nice. The Kydex liner in the sheath will also leave marks but a pencil eraser takes 'em off.

I have a BK2 which is the Companion. Blade length is about 5.25inches and is a good size for me. I use it for a camp knife and for all sorts of things from cutting, digging and hammering. Very versatile and it appears to be indestructible.
