What kind of 100yd. should one expect from you run-of-the-mill 20" A-15A2 from the major manufactuers (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, and Rock River)?

With match ammo matched to twist rate, you'd expect to get under 2MOA out of any of the major brands. Adding options like floated handguard, match sights, tuned trigger, etc. will probably halve this assuming the barrel is of good quality. Every AR-15 should be under 1" with a free-floated heavy barrel and a good load.

Probably better than the shooter behind the sights! :D

I get 1-1.5 MOA out of my Rock River standard A2, and those are 10 shot groups from sandbags. I was amazed at how accurate the rifle is.

natedog,

If any AR type won't give you 1 to 1.5 MOA at 100 with 5 shots of any decent factory ammo, then you got a bad one...

I've built two AR's in the past from kits I bought from M&A and Model 1 Sales. One is a 20" A2 and the other is a 16" A4. Both will do less than 1.25 MOA at 100 with just about any decent handload I can dream up. .75" 5 shot groups are not uncommon at all, and you can throw in the occasional 1/2" group too.

I also own a RRA DCM upper that I shoot on one of the same two lowers I made from kits. It will consistently shoot 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100.

Any decently made AR is about as accurate as you could ask for.....

I agree with the above. The AR can be extremely accurate. Even when they let Military folks abuse them. :D

I think the best thing you could do for the accuracy is get a good trigger for it. I can't say enough about my RR 2 stage trigger for accuracy work.

Good Shooting
