Because it isn't mounting right. It probably only fits what's listed (500, standard 590 and 590DA!). I wasn't aware they were so different...? it'll go on but fits way too far rear of the trigger guard.

please close this thread, for I am a fool. I had it backwards. I've installed 5 of these things before but never on a Mossberg. We all have our stupid moments I guess.
