Ok i keep seeing these speedfeed stocks and dont quite get the "speed" part of it. Visually it looks like they just carry rounds in the stock, like an extra side-saddle. Do they actually have a way to feed directly from the stock to the magazine "speedy feeding into magazine?" or am I right in saying they are just an extra way to carry more ammo.

Extra ammo.

Like an internal side-saddle that doesn't get in the way.

extra ammo and alot more user "UN" friendly than a simple side saddle ive used both and the side saddle is quicker for me because you have to compress the spring in the speedfeed to remove a shell and the opening in the stock is tapered and 99% of the time the shells rim gets stuck in that taper i can load faster from shells in my pocket than from the speedfeed honestly i dont see a reason to put shells in it unless i just want extra ammo with the gun and im not in a hurry to reload

I agree & prefer the side-saddle... but don't mind having both, for just that little extra "back-up" feel-good feeling. ;)

This has been said before, "speedfeed" essentially equates to "ammo on demand."

As a side note: Based on my experience with this stock (Mossberg 590), the "speedfeed" feature seems to work best when either "tube" is loaded with 2 shells. With only one shell loaded, it seems as if the single shell will pop out prematurely...Im assuming due to recoil.

I put buckshot in the side saddle and slugs in the speedfeed then i know right where to go if i need to reach out and touch something...

Excuse me for maybeso being a little slow, but why the rush for more ammo? Any bird is going to be out of range no matter how fast you reload, or if they are coming in that thick, then there's no rush anyway. So what if a few get away. Am I missing something? I've never been in a situation where grabbing shells out of the vest pocket was too slow.

I don't think the speed feeds are for hunters, more for tactical/HD.
