I am in the search or a new duck and dove gun. I have been considering the remington 1187, beretta extrema 2, or benelli M2 American, or Vinci. Give me some advice and tell me what you guys, and gals, think.

I'm a Remington guy, but you can't hit flying birds too well if your gun doesn't fit. I'd get the Remington or the Beretta, depending on which fit the best. I much, much, much prefer gas actions, especially when the stout waterfowl loads are called for. They all pretty much work.

The Remington in my experience is a good solid gun and will be the least expensive and the softest recoiling. Also the heaviest, by a wide margin.

I used to own a Beretta 390, which is similar to he Extrema. It is a great gun, probably the best all around.

I lucked into a great deal on a Benelli M-1 a couple of years ago and have used nothing else since. Even sold my Beretta. New, they are the most expensive. They are also the lightest. Most of my waterfowl hunting involves long walks in the woods to beaver ponds and I really like the lighter weight.

Any will do the job I think. I really like the Benelli, but do not think I would have ever spent the money to buy a new one. But now that I have it, it ain't for sale.

The Benelli pump guns are somewhat bulky. If you are a larger guy like myself, that is a welcome feature. There are several good waterfowl guns on the market. Find out which one has the features, feel, and price you like and start hunting for a deal on one.
