Another AR question- Gas tube attached to FSB?

I'm switching out hand guards on my son's AR15. I'm installing a low profile gas block that will be covered by the free floated hand guard. If figured I could just pull the old gas tube out of the FSB and re-use it. It's not coming out.
Did I figure wrong (my middle name according to my lovely wife:p) or Do I need to give it a harder tug? Please share the secret. Thanks!

There is a roll pin that sits crossways/logitudinally across the FSB and holds the tube in place. That pin must be driven out first.
Even then, many gas tubes are really stuck once they've been used for a while and I've taken to simply buying new ones (and a new roll pin) with each new FSB.

Yep.
Once the roll pin is out, try a good soaking with solvent or penetrating oil.
Hard carbon build-up in the joint can stick them pretty good.
