i was going through my wheelguns the other day...recently moved and still trying to find the best place to store things...and came across my old PPC gun.

rolling back the trigger brought back some great memories and i got to wondering...what is this thing worth nowadays. so...

built on a smith m-14 (so .38spl only)
6"bull barrel...stage III (full round, 1", with short underlug)
recessed muzzle in target crown and 11 degree throat
full top rib, with:
slide adjustable (3 position) front sight (7yds, 25yds and 50yds)
rear sight overhanging hammer
wings protecting front sight blade
action tuned
chambers chamfered
tigger thinned and rounded
trigger stop set in trigger
crane locks up to underlug

the only wear is on the sides of the front of the barrel..from rubbing on the holster

so guys, what do you think she might be worth?

I think I still have some of their later fliers, from around 1988. That must be a sweet K frame. Congrats.

It sounds like a dandy gun. I've looked at a couple of P.P.C. guns over the years, but was always reluctant to buy because I was afraid they'd been shot out.

I have a similar gun(by Davis) and have it up for $1000 WITH NO SERIOUS TAKER SO FAR( 5 months). Such specialty guns don't hold value to $ paid well, but what the hell people are morons ! Ready to run out and spend $1000 on a stamped out H&K (hey I got a HK VP70Z, 91 and 93 prebans) pistol or a Taurus and a new S&W but don't think of the bargins of a real $2000 hand built gun that will actually shoot tight groups rapidly.:(

standing wolf - i don't think i've ever seen s "shot out" PPC gun...after all...

all we ever shoot through them are mid-range wadcutters. i think i used to go through a couple of cases of winchester "match wad cutters" a season during matches and maybe half again as much in practice.

the only visiable wear on he piece is around the front of the barrel where it rubbed against my rogers holster during the draw. it is not the cleanest gun i have with carbide black hiding around the sights and powder around the outside and face of the cylinder...probly be above the barrel shank too. (if it didn't affect shooting we didn't clean it)..a good disassembly, clean and lube would likely leave it in asmost new shape.

PPC guns are seldom cuddled, but never abused. now somthing used in Action shooting might be another story...shooting that "full power" .38 spl stuff:p

Yes, I've seen all too many old retired (but still in great shape) custom PPC guns @ $550 or so. Which is just peanuts for what's in 'em. I'd consider swapping sights to something more "streetable" (incl. tritium) and CCWing the critter :D.

It would be fun watching a good shooter take that to quals. I'd donate a few boxes of factory ammo, or componants, shooter's choice.

Living in the SF Bay Area when I began shooting in earnest my brother introduced me to Bill Davis Service Center. Mr. Davis had retired but they had some serious gunsmithing talent working in the shop. Every S&W revolver I own has been duty tuned or super tuned there.

It was a sad day when the business closed a few years back.

The most incredible glassy smooth action I've ever handled was one of their K Frame PPC guns. I don't remember what grade it was.

I had a chance to shoot one at the local range not too long ago. It had a nice little slabside barrel on it. Probably the sweeetest DA pull that I have ever felt. Its the beeees kneeeees!!!!!

9mm bring it out to Yolo this weekend. :)

I moved back here in the late '80s and found the Service Center. Mark worked on a few stainless carry revolvers for me. They're good, but not PPC ;).........

Mines on a model 65 action with a winged ribbed full length stepped distance Bomar 6" slab sided bull barrel. 6# double action pull with reliable ignition on magnum primers. With Federal match wadcutters it shoots sub inch at 25 yards. With my Magnun loads it shoots 2" at 50 yds. I don't care if it sells really. I've got $1300+ in gun and it still shoots as well as it did in my last police match in 86!:)

Mine is a Model 10, and definately out shoots me any day of the week. It's one that I'll never sell or trade.
