My wonderful wife bought me a Diamondblade for my birthday. Picture is not the best. It is super sharp and a great looking knife.

Very interesting.

We're going to be needing more details dude...this isn't the General Handgun forum.

Having a Knives of Alaska knife, I have wondered how much better the edge on one of these would actually be at holding up. If they could compete with my beloved Busses, I'd be damned impressed indeed!

That sounds like some very special "American" technology.
Lucky you! :)

Here are some pics:

It is flat ground from the spine to the "edge". The edge has an 18 to 20 degree angle.

From hilt to tip there seems to be a constant curve. At first it seemed that the first inch or two from the hilt is straight but it is not. Very slight curve. The spine and all the way around the tang are highly polished, but the majority of the blade is of a sand blasted type finish. From what I have read about D2(I don't clam to be very knowledgeable about most steels) it is hard to give it a polished finish. The stag scales are attractive, but one is thicker than the other, though when it's in your hand you can't tell. I am very happy with it.

Time will tell about the blade. Though the closest thing I have to it is probably a 1095 knife. I have "Carbon V", 5160 through and diff hardened and 1055. So I don't know with to compare it to. Plus I really only use a couple of knives regularly enough to sharpen often. Those are both stainless steel. AUS8 and 154CM I think.

According to my source it's supposed to last 10x longer than D2. Did you read that link?

I did, it would be nice if that ends up being half true, and wonderful if it's really 10x better. They print out the FAQ and explanation of friction forging and add it to the box.

the company to give a freebie to one of the blade gurus here
on THR for a test.

( awesome if it is THAT good. A shame i´m low on funds)

An unbiased machine doing the cutting test would be a good way to get an objective answer. A third party would be the best one to perform the test. But sure if they give me a free knife to abuse I am all for it.

The tests have already been done.

They demonstrated the knives at the Blade Show with an automated cutting set up running one through half inch manila rope. It just kept on cutting and cutting and cutting. Inch by inch, minute after minute to the point it got both boring and exciting.

Use the thing and let us know how it does.

Nice, did not know that the tested in front of an audience.

These have been one of the most publicly tested knives to come along. Various sports and knife writers were assembled to watch them be used to dress endless hogs. Rope cutting. 2X4 cutting, etc.

Blade Magazine has had a whole series of articles on them.
