H&K P2000 - Should I?

Walked into the local gun store today, thinking of little else other than just looking through their used guns to waste a little time before I had to be somewhere. Looked at a few .45s. Good, but nothing to particularly rave about. Then he pulls out this P2000, looking as good as new. $545.
I don't know a whole lot about the P2000, except that they are fairly new, but I have a couple of USPs, so I am pretty fond of the HK quality.
Is this a good price? Is it a good gun?

My HK dealer has one in his display case (it's in used condition with what appears to be only a few hundred rounds thru it) and he's asking a paltry ..
$700 for it!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Great price! Oh, make sure you get all three magazines and both backstraps with it. I've seen some dealers selling them with only 2 mags. They are all shipped from the factory with 3!

As I understand it, there are 2 versions of the P2000, a German Police Version that shipped w/ 3 mags & a US version that comes w/ 2 mags. The US version is also USPc mag compatible so mags shouldn't be a probelm, the German Police Version uses a proprietary mag so they shipped w/ an extra mag since they'll be kinda difficlut to find mags for ;)

My son got one last month, different then a 1911. The trigger takes some getting used to,in sa its a long pull but only about 4lbs, da about 13lbs. Have about 1300rds thru it and no problems, had to drift the rear sight, was shooting left now right on! His pistol came with 2 mags and 4 grip spacers, s,m,l,xl. Like any firearm try before you buy, i like it but not as much as my 1911s, good luck!

Yeah, I did go ahead and get it. It has a very comfortable feel for me. I was really looking to find a USPc Stainless in 9mm, but I think this will suit me for the time being. I'll probably have a chance to shoot it in a couple of days. We'll see how it does.

I hadn't thought of that, Skunk. :o Doh!
but I think this will suit me for the time being.
If you should decide to part with it, Drizzt, I've got first dibs. :D

Congrats on your new HK! If you were looking at the USPc, you should enjoy the P2000. Good to see that it fits you. Which trigger does it have, DA/SA or LEM?

I'm thinking all P2000's have the LEM trigger.
The US pistols do come with two mags, but they are compatible with the USP mags. They also have rubber bottoms. I'm thinking there are four backstraps in all. Is that correct?
$545.................unbelievable!

It does have the LEM trigger, and yes, I believe all the U.S. models have that trigger. It is the same magazine as the USPc, but it does not have a rubber bottom. It did still have all 4 backstraps. That's a pretty nice way of making sure you've got a good fit...

Aha, someone else seems to have fallen into the USPc 9mm hi cap magazine vortex.
There are NO, repeat NO, legal 13 round USPc 9mm hi caps. The gun was only introduced after the magazine ban, what people are trying to sell for anywhere upto $100 each are gray imports.
They are not marked LEO only, but that doesn't make them legal, check the HK pro web site, I believe they have covered this in some detail before.
Caveat emptor definitely applies here.
