Yes, AAC would be very early, likely 1980 or possibly 1981.

Per the Standard Catalog of S&W the three letter prefix serial ranges started at AAA0000 in 1980 and AAD2120 has been reported in 1981. Note that these are shipping dates, not production dates. To get an exact shipping date you would need to contact Roy Jinks and pay $50 for a factory letter. Without that 1980/1981 is as close as we can call it.
