To those who don't know I'm a Volunteer State Firearm Safety Instructor (the course that gives you your Firearm Safety Certificate so you can hunt [primarily kids 12-15, but an adult or two now as some states require a firearm safety certificate to hunt big game]).

Today was range day where the students are put on the 15 yard line and fire 5 shots prone, 5 sitting, and 5 standing. Well I'm here to tell you the class this fall was outstanding. Every class we have is good, but this fall really is special. The safe handling of the firearms reflects the study time they put in and attention to classroom instruction.
The real suprising part was the accuracy displayed by these young ladies and gents. One brand new shooter put all rounds on paper from all positions! http://www.thehighroad.org/images/icons/icon14.gif We had some real paper punchers out there. Good to see the future of our sport out in numbers and with such enthusiasm.

Bless the juniors and their parents n coaches.

Without them, we would have done it in vain.

Thanks guys. It does take a bit of time (and a bit of $$$) but I give it back gladly. It's very rewarding work. I still remember sitting being 12 and sitting in a classroom listening while 5 (yes, 5! instructors from my little country town) instructors gave us all their attention. I decided to repay their investment in my by becoming a Volunteer Firearm Safety Instructor myself. :)
