I just caught the last few minutes of a show about mass murderers. One of the people they interviewed said something along the lines of "we have background checks but most of the people committing these types of crimes do not have a criminal history and will pass the check" then a bit later he said something like "these murders are the price we pay for freedom" and as he's saying this they're showing photos of a Ruger P series and then an Uzi or Uzi type gun, I couldn't tell.:cuss:

Actually, in a strange way the commentator is right. The only way for a society to avoid random crime is to become a police state where the government has the power to lock up or kill anyone who "might" be a threat. A nation where individuals are innocent until proven guilty is always goiing to have crime and violence, because there are always evil or crazy people who can fit into society until they reach a certain point.
I'd rather worry about (and go armed to defend against) random crazies and evildoers than have to worry about the government throwing me in prison because of what I "might" do.

I have to agree, we have to be armed to be a free. History shows this is true. Here is what happened in Europe between March 14, 1938 to March 15, 1939, in just one year after most guns were conficated.
March 14, 1938 Adolf Hitler was driven to the Austrian capital from Linz, where he set up his tempory headquarters. Austria cheered the man who once pledged that Austria's borders were inviolable. Hitler has already signed a decree making himself the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of Germany and Austria. Just last week, Chamberlain met with Hitler in Bad Godesberg and he capitulated to the major demands of the Fuhrer by following a policy of appeasement. {A lot of good it did him:(}
Hitler 's army takes over Sudetenland Czechoslovakia on Oct 5, 1938. On Feb 22, 1939 American Nazis gather in the Madison Square Garden under the image of George Washington. There was a crowd of 22,000. March 15, 1939 one year later Czechs collapse as Nazis in Prague. This is what happened in just one year as Hitler took over countries in Europe. What helped him? GUN CONTROL.

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt? For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou Lord, becamest their God.

Yep, I caught Dark Heart/Iron Hand last night as well. That same salt and pepper fuzzyhead made some comment that these mass murders are due to the proliferation of firearms. :cuss:
The fact that there are so few mass murders in the U.S. (26 is the average currently, 34 was the average in the 90's) considering the population, that's pretty damn small. While every murder is tragic, the media makes it seem far worse through the intense and neverending coverage.
They commented on Luby's cafeteria, and I was really hoping that they were going to interview Suzanna Hupp, who lost both her parents in the murder spree, and went on to become a Texas State Rep. Sadly, it didn't happen.
All in all, it was an interesting show.
