I am excited to finally have a muzzle loader! The only other BP I have owned is a Stainless Ruger Old Army- Always a lot of fun!
My question has to do with carbon steel black powder firearms- I see rusted out BPs all the time, why are not more made in stainless? any reason other than the aesthetic of blue, wood, and tradition? (for the record i love blue, wood, and tradition) ;)

You've answered your own question. Traditional (also sometimes called primitive, although that's not an accurate term) firearms are not made of stainless steel because they are replicas of guns that were historically made of stainless steel.
There are a few replica cap and ball revolvers in stainless, and there is the Ruger Old Army as you know; these are traditional only in the sense that they are mechanically the same or very nearly the same as the original cap and ball designs.

Although when one sees the polished steel of a Civil War era Springfield, it looks like stainless steel and most people would agree that it's both beautiful and traditional.
I took some sweet pics at Williamsburg VA last month. I just dont have them here at work.
I took them in the armory. And In the Governers mansion, GUNS EVERYWERE IN THERE. I Will try to post them when I remember.
You are correct. They are both beautiful and traditional.
Not my pic but you get the idea, this is inside the armory in Williamsburg VA Historic district.
