Has anyone bought one of those .22's with built in sound suppressors? How is their quality? Which one should I get? What red tape do I have to go through to get one?

The idea of plinking in my back yard is kinda nice.

Don't own one, but I've shot some and have one on my to buy list. I've played with the suppressed Ruger Mk II and the Ruger 22/45. They are very quiet. The sound level is about the same as shooting a pellet pistol. They are made by differenct manufacturers, but the ones I have shot were all well made and reliable.

The quick and simple of buying is first find the one you want to purchase. The dealer will generally supply you with the paperwork. You fill out 2 ATF Form 4s, attach a passport photo to each, enclose the completed fingerprint cards, have the CLEO (Police Chief /Sheriff) sign the forms, add a $200 check to ATF and send it all in. When it comes back, you pick up you gun.

val, your friendly local SOT will walk you though the 4.

However, I recommend that people purchase a suppressed .22 rifle as their first Title II. IME, I've found it easier to get CLEO'd. The floodgates open after your first.:)

A suppressed Ruger .22 will only require one Form 4. The only time you really need two for one gun is in the case of an integrally suppressed Title II weapon, such as the MP5SD, which is both a subgun and a suppressor.

A suppressed Ruger .22 will only require one Form 4.

That's 2 copies of the same Form 4. :) As noted in the single $200 check.
