posted this the other day and thought about maybe trying to contact Remington, is it possible to get any info from them and what is the best way to do it? thanks also welcome to hear anyone's opinions or suggestions

According to Robert H Balderson's book entitled official guide to antique and modern firearms it should have peep sights it may have been the barrel band variety it does not say .

thanks for the rem link it looks like it might be helpful, on the topic of the peep sight i figured it was just never put on or the stock was changed and it was not attached. I'm more interested in the barrel tip and why it was made. Id also like a value and rarity of some sort.

Manufactured in between 1939 - 62 approx 375,000 made 100% $215 90% $110 no referance to the threaded bore in any of my 3 books . If I were guessing it was done post mfg. Its pretty easy to do if you own a tap and die set . My guess also would be at some point it belonged to a coon hunter who wanted to cut down the flash that blinded him shooting in the dark .
