My girlfriend and I go on power walks and bike rides for exercise. I find that a butt pack/fanny pack works pretty good for CCW while exercising. I am having problems finding a good fanny pack holster at a reasonable price. I am currently using a Wegner Swissgear waist pack that works pretty well, but I would like something more gun specific. I've seen some leather ones, but I'm looking for a lighter weight nylon butt pack holster.

Does anyone have any hints or suggestions?

You might try the Safepacker (http://store.thewilderness.com/index.php?cPath=51) for something that fits the bill but is not exactly a fanny pack. Cops Plus (http://www.copsplus.com/fannypacks-purses.php) -- and I am sure many other sites -- carries various options from the big names in holsters. What are you looking to carry?

I have used this one for years, and it works great when riding my road bike.

Very secure, quick opening, and does not look like a "gun" pack.

I LOVE my safepacker! It is an AWESOME "un-holster". When I hike I just put it on the belt portion of my backpack or buttpack and it just blends in.

I just purchased a black nylon Galco fannypac. It's made to fit a Glock 26/27, but fits my CZ Rami perfectly. Fits my needs perfectly for summer. I paid way too much at my local gun shop. I did not mind paying more for something that I could actually touch w/ my booger hooks than take a chance purchasing off the internet and not being totally satisfied.
Sorry I don't remember the model as I threw out the packaging.

Tommy's Gun Pack here, more secure than the velcro closures used on the Safepacker and the extra compartments give a bit more flexibility.

Not to knock the Safepacker...had both, used both, it works too...I just prefer the more secure closure (which doesn't appreciably affect your draw) of the Tommy's pack versus the Safepacker.

We both carry lightweight .38 Special revolvers. She has a Ruger LCR, and I carry a Smith & Wesson 642 Airweight. I've tried carrying heavier firearms, but these seem like they feel better while exercising.

Absolutely, I feel the same way about some of the too-obvious solutions. Any color other than black or camo and some additional color added (trim, patches, etc.) does a lot to make "discreet carry" less obvious.

Laws in your State may vary.
That's why I live in an open carry State. I don't need to steenking fanny pack.

I found barely used DeSantis Gunny Sack Jr. waist pack for $26.00. It works pretty good for our uses. Maybe I'll sew on some patches that makes it look a little less like a gun holster. Or does it really matter?

I did see a "Million Mom March" fanny pack a while ago. Would wearing something like that make you more or less a target?

I really think fanny pack/waist pack holsters have their place and their uses. I think in some situations (like power walking or riding a bicycle) it might be the best choice.

Tommy's gun pack works great for me. If something creeps me out I can tuck my hand in and be ready without brandishing. The draw is suprisingly quick and nobody has ever given me a second look wearing it. I paid about 15 bucks + about 15 more shipping on a half price sale. Get on his mailing list and they'll notify you of sales. Don't be taken in on some of his "designer" packs. The "original" is great and only $30. not on sale. Others who carry and LEO's may pick you out as armed but who cares!
