Which browser are you using? I can let you have a list of my Firearms links for Internet Explorer 6, exported as an HTML file, which you can then import into your browser if it's compatible with such importation. Warning - I have hundreds of them, so it'll be a LOOOONG list! :D

I'll need your e-mail address to send them. Please PM or e-mail me if you want them.

If you have Windows ME it has a system restore command that restores your computer to an earlier state, when you had the book marks.

Nevermind.
I'm still adding to my list after installing a new HDD.
Besides, Preacherman I hear has a separate external HD just for firearm stuff :D
Sorry, couldn't resist.

when i say my computer crashed, i mean everything fried - it is not repairable. i have a new computer now...

preacherman - that list sounds great, but, i have no idea how to import and export stuff... i'm willing to learn, though if you want to walk me through it?

It is very unlikely everything is fried. Unless of course you got a lightning stike or some other freak of nature. May I suggest you contact a computer repair shop( Not best buy or compusa). They will probably be able to either resurect your dead computer or move your important data from you old hard drive to the new computer.

See if these help??

John's Startpage Firearms (http://sp.nelson.net/Firearms.htm)

I use this instead of Bookmarks, the original is resident on my hard drive and I do have a back up on some other computers in my house.

Sorry to hear about the Crash. Thanks for reminding all of us to backup our bookmarks. I have been in your situation before and know what a pain it is lose all those hours of web surfing due to data loss. I will E-mail you "guns for sale" folder and see if you can use it. It is for MSIE 6.0.
Good Luck,
Mike

You may want to hook up your old hard drive to your knew computer to see if the data can be retrieved, there shouldn't be any danger in that and most pc's have an extra slot for it.

cruffler.com and gunboards.com would have nice links sections to milsurp dealers.

Dakotasin, I've e-mailed the file to you (it's 135 kb - I told you I had a lot of bookmarks! :D ). I've included instructions on how to import the file to your browser.

Let me know if it works OK.

Hi Dakota,
I save addys to a floppy. After resurrecting your pc, just put 'em back in yer browser's "favorites."

or you can use an online repostitory like:
http://www.arts-entertainment-recreation.com/Recreation/Guns/

or better yet host your own links on a webpage

that way you can be at a buddies house and be right at home

these are pretty old:

My solution to this problem was found accidentaly. I installed Yahoo! Instant Messenger, and saw this cute little addition called the Yahoo! Tool Bar. After it is installed, it has a book mark section which wil easily and automatically import all of your bookmarks from IE or Netscape. This way, they are stored on Yahoo's servers, and you can access them from any computer (as long as you are signed in to yahoo), and if you loose your hard drive again, all you have to do is log in, and boom, there they are, right where they used to be. This has worked very well for me in the past, as I am always tinkering with my computer, and I occasionally break things.

Regularly back up from C:\windows\favorites. Restore to the same directory.

Now if I could just figure out where Outlook Express 6 stored its data file. :(

Your outlook files are .pst files.

Do you know how to use search?

Start/Search/For Files or Folders

Type:

*.pst

in the search field

make sure the search is searching your C: drive (primary hard drive)

If nothing shows, go to Tools/Folder Options/View - select the option "show hidden files/folders"

then it will show. Once it does, click on it ONCE, and the path (location) information will show up.

This method will work exactly on win2k, other versions vary slightly.

I think there should be a "I found it on the web" forum on THR where you can post fire arm specific URL's
