On another thread the term "swamped barrel" came up so I went off dutifully and googled it rather than ask and confirm my newbiness... :D
I got my answer but along with it came a visit to a couple of web pages ya'll find interestin'. The funny thing is that Budd Davisson is well known as a fantastic craftsman in the model airplane world as well. Another of my far too many hobbies....
First he's got some history of the Kentucky rifles...

And then he's got a series of articles on building a long rifle from a kit. The hints he provides go FAR beyond the kit instructions and should be a big help for some aspiring kit makers....
