Has anyone heard of the SW642 Freedom Protector? It's basically a S&W 642 with the words "Freedom Protectod" engraved on the side. Is there anything else different about if from a standard 642?

Most of the current J Frames engraved with phrases like that are distributor special runs, and are otherwise identical to the same model non engraved J Frame. You'll probably see more of this to come. S&W can't produce enough J Frames to meet demand, so distributors are getting smaller blocks of guns than they're used to. Some creative factory reps have used the engraved special run loop hole in S&W's internal ordering system to get distributors larger blocks of guns.

Just the price as near as I can tell.
If you are a dealer only put your freedom protectors out in a case and no regular 642s. They cost about 40 bucks more so try to sell them first or they will sit forever. Or just lower the markup to get rid of them.
