Steve,

Your reference to Foolem Armory reminded me of a question. I saw another derogatory reference to Fulton Armory a while back. I have no experience with them and was wondering, do they have a bad reputation? Are there some cautions with dealing with them? Do they do substandard work?

Thanks,
Steve

Oops - alomost forgot. You can order one from Springfield Armory, although I don't know if it's GI or not. Smith Enterprise also carries them.

I know i'm not (the other :) )steve but i think i can at least "Sort of" answer that.

Fulton, has a bad rep b/c of pricing products WAY above what they're worth, shady business ethics, and a whole list of "clint McKee being a well and true can't say them words here in order to bilk more money from the shooting public"

I have yet to meet a serious High Power competitor that has ANYTHING good to say about Fulton. one even went so far as to say "i refuse to help out someone that uses Fulton gear!" (he's the most oppinionated lawyer i've met BTW)

so far the only thing i've come across that FA puts out that even comes close to being worth the time/money, is an Upper Receiver that would fit a "requirement" that my wife has passed down for an AR for her. she wants an A1 style gun and the "Hornet" upper fills that too well and for too much below what i can get one built for elsewhere, to pass up when that time comes (it will go on a Bushy or RRA lower)

Oh and for direct cases, involving things i have looked into tha fulton either had an oppinion on or similar... two things come to mind one regarding AR-15s they are guilty of the BIGGEST, most widespread and most easy to prove false, Lie about ARs they build in the world. they have claimed that they "Get their Castings from the same folks FN does" (or as other bilkers have said "we use FN parts to build our guns") this is outright BS, NO FN parts, esp not things like major assemblies or the upper/lower receiver castings are sold on the civvy market (or at least weren't last i checked) they have quite enough business filling US and other military contracts.
Second, once WAYYY back around the time Springfeild brought out their New Garand Repro, i asked a question on another board regarding the fact that SA was using cast receivers some of which were from Lithgow in Austraila, and someone else had also brought in a few Lithgow receivers adn built up guns on them, i was sent to a page at the Fulton website, that not only was uninformative but was a load of "we don't wanna work on it so we're GONNA FIND something wrong with it" Anti-cast reciver BS, including one part that amounted to cutting a scrapped forged USGI receiver and a new investment cast receiver in half and then pointing at the fact that the two had different grain structures and then saying "see the cast isn't like teh forged, and Forged=good so, not-like-forged=BAD".
Basicly it's one thing to promote your product, it's another to poo-poo perfectly good products from another company just b/c it's not yours and making out like the other guy's gun is going to blow up b/c it's not EXACTLY like what you like/sell.

all in all the more i look around at what's out there the more and more i see Fulton as being well ont eh high side price wise and only fair to midlin quality wise. as i said the ONLY item they sell i'm even tempted to touch, is one that while i MIGHT if i was lucky be able to get the right pieces to build a similar upper, for less. I'd still have to send it off to get the work i can't do preformed (installation of a legal Faux flashhider, headspace, etc).

You want part # 27 and 28 from the following link, about $12: http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=2070zM1A%20SPRINGFIELD

By the way, I like Fulton Armory. A lot. They always treat me well, prices are comparable to elsewhere (nice thing about the 'net, easy to compare and cut through the waist-high, heard from a friend who heard from a friend BS), and the service is outstanding. :fire:

I have EXCELLENT reasons for not liking them, but since I am an admin type here, I will leave them alone, other than so say I won't buy a 25 cent item from them.
