Hey guys, I'm looking into getting an electroless nickel plating tank. I've read that people use this method for guns. My question is, for this process the gun has to be in a solution at 195F. But I always hear that heating up a gun can destroy its heat treatment properties.

Is 200F low enough that it won't have an effect, or what?

Yes, way low enough.

It would require in the neighborhood of 430F minimum heat to change any steel parts heat treatment.

Drill rod, as used in tough but not brittle heat treated parts such as firing pins, are drawn at 560F after being quenched (hardened) at 1,500F.
