I do need a M40(the real deal) but have not come across one, I find that if I look too hard.....I dont find what I want....dont look and its easier and cheaper

heck I sell real estate, never bought any RE to flip, nor buried myself in dept, never bought a gun to flip, nor a Land Cruiser.

Why invest in the uncertain and its just paper anyway(stocks), when you can invest(and that was not my goal as I dont sell) in stuff you like? Not to say I dont own some RE, but have had it for YEARS..only reason I keep one peice is so I can shot on my own land(where I dont live)......and do whatever I want.....shooting naked was NOT a good idea however

Lets see. . .I have acquired 5 Smiths in my first year of S&W Addiction. . . I believe I counted 58 in your collection. . . if I could possibly keep up my pace of purchase, it will take me only 11 years and 6 months to catch up!!! Game On!

61..so darn close

only really been at it 3 years, always had a S&W(or 2)...but got hooked big time, most(75%) were local finds, few others from S&W forum, 1-2 were a gift, some office workers(free to get out of house or cheap, I work with alot of gals), some(20-30%) local PD evidence guns, some Land Cruiser buddies(they had or found for me) 1-2 pawn shop, few garage sales, few random local gun shops.

I still love my HK's(there are a "few") and other semi's but there is just something about a S&W revolver that hits a spot in me.

I dont just like(but I do) the looks of the T-grip, they work perfect for my hand(fairly large) I shoot my best with them, they dont snag like rubber. really the only reason some have other grips is I cant afford any more stag/bone and t-grips ;) (well the 629 w 300g and stag-t grip was not plesent...so it will wear rubber, same with the 340PD)

Landpimp,

I counted again and came up with 61. . . Have you indexed them? I recognize a number of them, but I would be curious to know what a list would look like. Another point, I am curious as to how much ammo would it take to load them out. . . I am guessing somewhere between 330 and 350 rounds.

Thanks again for sharing.

I'm curious...what is the "purpose" (not that you need one) of purchasing variations (or even duplicates) of the same model (e.g., M 19)?

Some of us M 19-deprived hopefuls might consider that "hoarding" rather than "collecting". ;)

Do you buy and sell - or just buy?

I'm afraid my formerly blue eyes have turned green.

...2 for 2 have been lemons for me...

KB: I'm curious about what you bought and what the problems were?

Using the Revolver sticky on gun check out might alleviate the problem of picking lemons.

It's not too late to find a good used Smith revolver.

Sadly, I only own two hand guns - both are classic S&Ws. It's a start.

Sadly, I only own two hand guns - both are classic S&Ws. It's a start.

Bob,
One was a new 637-2 that passed all of the tests in the sticky. However, it had a slightly crooked barrel that I failed to notice until I shot it (horrible accuracy, even for a snub). It was returned to the factory and "fixed". I got it back with the same barrel, over-torqued and misaligned. Also, the frame is now warped and has an uneven B/C gap at a whopping 0.010 - 0.014 as a result of the "repair".
It is now going back again with a request for a total replacement.

The other was a S&W built Walther PPK/S I bought for my wife. Bought it new as well. It was one of the worst performing and least reliable guns I have ever owned. Traded that back to the dealer at a loss after about 500 rounds with many failures.

Once they send me the new 637, I will likely get rid of it and be done with the company. Between the poor initial craftsmanship, and lazy repair service, I see no reason to waste any more time/money/nerves on them.

KB: Thanks for sharing (apologies for thread-drift). I am also not inclined to purchase a new Smith. Fortunately, there are many wonderful classics out there that are well-made and reasonably priced - as Landpimp has so amply demonstrated.

I found long ago, when you find something you like, but at least 1 more as they wont be there when you need another. Well thats true.....its no excuse that I have 7x HK P7 series, 10+ HK P9s...3x93, etc etc

well thats what I did with Land Cruisers, had darn near 2 of each model, I sold off the spares a few years back to friends at what my cost was, didnt make a dime. Kinda a karma thing I guess

favorite, I think there are 2, one is the nickle 19-4 2.5" and the other is a plain jain 686 4"........beacuse that was THE ACTAULL(his assigned duty gun) gun the deputy arrested me in 1985 was wearing that night.......there is more to the story, but it change my life and how i got that gun....well it was ment to be mine.

I got this for a song, even though it does have some blueing missing.
On that note, what would be a good easy method to touch up the blueing, without the gun looking like cr*p.
