Noising around in Wikipedia and came across this

Bushnell Outdoor Products is the parent company of these brands:

* Simmons Optics
* Millett [5]
* Blackwater Gear
* Bollé Performance Eyewear
* Browning Sports Optics
* Bushnell
* Bushnell Golf
* Butler Creek
* Hoppe’s
* Serengeti
* Simmons Outdoor Corporation
* Stoney Point
* Tasco
* Uncle Mike’s
* Uncle Mikes Law Enforcement

I knew about some of these but I had no idea that Bushnell was connected with the others.

Hmm, didn't realize they owned Simmons. Wonder why ATK didn't buy that name back from Meade.

Millett...makes sense. My first Millett red dot for the Kadet had optics so far off it was making a double image. Even the other one they sent me as a replacement was slightly off.

Hoppes though?

I think ATK competes with the Bushnell group and others.

ATK owns:
RCBS
Weaver
Federal
Fusion
Speer
Law Enforcement
Estate
CCI
Blazer
Black Cloud
Alliant Powder
Champion
D-tect Systems
Eagle
Gunslick
Intensisty
Nitrex
Outers
Ram-Line
Shooters Ridge

And enough missles, tanks, planes, avionics, spacecraft, and defense technologies to own the rest of the world.

For the right price they could own 2RCo! :neener::evil:

Seriously Bushnell or ATK needs the worlds #1 recognized manufacturer of pink 1911 grips which strangely occupies part of my basement.

Don't believe me Google pink 1911 grips. :D

Back on Topic all the larger accessories manufacturers from Holsters to Optics to Lubricants are all so interconnected it makes your head spin.

The ATK list reads a bit more surprising than the Bushnell list does.

At one time Taurus and S&W were owned by the same company. That is how old S&W tooling got to the Taurus plant. I unfortuantly own a Tasco scope that dosn't work and can't get it fixed becasue it predates the company being bought out by somebody else.

"At one time Taurus and S&W were owned by the same company. That is how old S&W tooling got to the Taurus plant."

That is a common belief, but IIRC, S&W has said it is not true; neither are reports that S&W made revolvers in Brazil, nor that they set up a plant that Taurus later bought.

The similarity of design is no coincidence, of course; S&W revolvers have long been popular in South America, and both Taurus and Rossi naturally copied a well-liked product. FWIW, when cheap Spanish revolvers were flooding the U.S. in the 1920's, sellers claimed that they were made at a "secret wartime S&W plant in Spain." Nonsense of course, but it probably roped in a few suckers.

In the meantime, Smith & Wesson had been purchased by a conglomerate named Bangor Punta. In 1970, Bangor Punta also purchased 54% of Taurus. Thus, the two companies became "sisters". Smith & Wesson never owned Taurus. They were both independent companies. However, during the next seven years, a great deal of technology and methodology was passed between the two. What may come as a surprise to some is that more of what was "right" in Porto Alegre was sent to Springfield than was sent from Springfield to south of the equator.

This is from Taurus' site

Ahh 2RCo's not really for sale-- especially not to this administration. Now if only we could convert Obama to a Gun Enthusiast and a big fan of the 2A. Dreaming... I am!

S&W can call BS on the Taurus story all they want ...History is history and the truth is the truth.
