Do any of you know if there's a problem with using a slide from a mid 60s T prefix serial number High Power on a 70s T prefix serial number High Power? And what would be a good price?

thanks

Are you sure that "70s T prefix" was actually made in the '70's?

While a few "T's" exist that are outside the serial number range as listed by Browning, 99% of the T series were 1960's manufacture.

In any event, there is no difference between "T" series and the "C" series. Both are identical models with the exception of the serial number format. Early "C's" have the round hammer, later "C's" have the spur hammer.

I am thankful for any help, this gun is all I have from my Dad.

Are you sure that "70s T prefix" was actually made in the '70's?
Not completely

The S/N is T301*** which would fall with the range they give for 1969-75 (T258001-261000), It could be 1969 I'm not sure, it was my Dads (he died in 1980) My brother got ahold of it and wrapped it in paper towels (do not ask me why). Well the paper towels pulled the oil out of the metal and the slide is pitted. I've taken it to a gun smith and he told me to contact browning to see if they could restore it, heavens knows how much that would cost? I haven't contacted them yet but I came across a slide on gun broker that looks like it's in really good shape for $300 (starting bid) which seems to me maybe a little high but may be cheaper than getting it restored, I don't know yet.

Is $300 (starting bid) too much for a good condition slide?

Can you post pics of your slide?

I was planning to do that very thing, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Here's a photo,
Is this clear enough?

The pattern is the pattern that was in the paper towels and the metal is pitted. The gun smith I took it to said he could restore it but it would ruin the value. He said Browning should be able to do it and retain it's value. It's not the value I am so worried about, I just want it to look the way it did before my brother got hold of it.

You could try a cold blue before sending it off to be refinished by Browning.
Most cold blue solutions can hide small spots pretty well.

And best of all they are cheap.:D

Well... bluing wouldn't do what I want do, which is get it smooth again. I went ahead and bid on the Slide for sale on gun broker and no one else bid on it, so I got it for $300. From the pictures it looks like it's almost in perfect shape. After I get it I may play around and see what I can do to smooth out the first one, at least this way I have a backup with the 2nd.
